BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

The Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, Ranchi was founded by the Philanthropist, Industrialist Mr.B.M.Birla, in the year 1955, as part of his lifelong commitment towards building a technologically advanced and industrially strong India. The achievements of the Institute, both in terms of research and excellent standards of academic programmes led to it attaining the status of a Deemed University under the UGC Act of the Government of India, in 1986, and one of the top Technical institutes of the country today.

BIT offers undergraduate, postgraduate as well as doctoral level programmes in all major branches of engineering and technology, architecture, pharmaceutical science as well as management. The Institute has laterally expanded through establishment of several extension centers, both in India and abroad. In India BIT has Extension Center at Noida, Kolkata, Ranchi, Jaipur, Naini(Allahabad), Deoghar, Patna & Chennai. BIT is the first India Institute, having status equivalent to a University that ventured to establish full-fledged campus outside India. International Center are located at Bahrain, Muscat (Sultanate of Oman), and Ras-Al-Khaima (UAE).

 

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering is dedicated to the current needs of industry with the flexibility to tune its programmes according to different requirements. Application of new technology in various fields is one of the main focus in the activities of the department. The Department has Power System Lab, Control System Lab, Electrical Measurement & Instrumentation Lab, Electrical Machines Lab, Power Electronics Lab, Soft Computing Lab and Virtual Instrumentation and Signal Processing Lab., Drives Lab., Electrical Workshop, Smart Grid Lab. The department has been a center for research in various related fields of study from time to time.
